Who and why we serve.
Bonnets for Babies understands the difficulties many families in poverty face such as unreliable transportation, inflexible work schedules, and unemployment. According to the U.S. Census, approximately 10,000 babies are born in Erie County per year. With a 21.1% poverty rate for children under the age of 18, roughly 2,110 babies are born into poverty every year.
Bonnets for Babies assist families, who may find it difficult, especially during the winter months, to access sufficient warming apparel. The first few years of a child’s life are the most critical in shaping their well-being. Bonnets for Babies supports families and their children through these formative years.
